WHY ME??

It was her first day at school. She was the chosen one from an ocean of 'coloured' people to attend a school which wasn't meant for her kind. She left home in her only expensive outfit. She stepped into the car. Her mother kissed her on her forehead and said "Take care child". she had nothing to say, as she was very well aware of the consequences of this protest. Her daughter was being admitted into a school where she would be treated differently from others. However, she instilled courage into her daughter's five year old heart and prepared her for the worst situation.
As soon as the girl stepped out of the vehicle, she was surrounded by the paparazzi. She wrinkled her eyes and clung onto her mother's arm while being pushed towards the school gate. She felt insecure. She had sensed that she was in for something unpleasant.
She entered the school with trembling legs. Things hadn't worsened, that when she entered the school, she was welcomed with glares of disgust, anger and indifference from students and teachers of all ages around her. She had nothing to cling onto this time. She looked around helplessly until she observed something. There was some difference. She was a lot different from the others.
She entered the class and sat in an isolated corner, as though it was crafted for her. Nobody sat near her. They had made their own friends. She was alone. She tried saying 'hi' to someone, but she received a cold and disgusted glare! Her five year old heart pained at this indifferent behavior of the people around her only because she belonged to a coloured race.
Every moment of her life, since then, she thought to herself -
"WHY ME????"

My god.
Racism.
one thing that still prevails in a very subtle manner. :(
Touching and painful.

Coloured as in, you mean black?

How painfully truthful.

Keep the touching words up.

ouch.
:(
I dont think racism prevails in India.
Only caste-ism is still there.
And of course, the North - South discrimination.
