GUILT

The long awaited moment arrived,
You couldn't help but say to me, under the starry sky-
"A long wait has brought me here,
You're the one, the only in my heart's sigh."

Hours and days raced ahead,
The crunch of time played over me.
I thought no more, I felt no more,
Gave you an affirmation, just to see you glee.

Least was i aware this would go so deep into you,
I warned, I paraphrased all that i could say-
I have never loved, i never shall,
But my treasured friend, you must stay.

I heartlessly played along,
The wrong is all mine.
But you say i'm 'the one', unconditionally;
Could i still ask for all to be fine?
